03-09-2024I have a very large dog pillow that formerly had the small bean bag chair beans that were all smashed flat and were a total pain to deal with. I replaced that stuff with several pool noodles cut into peanut size and the shredded foam and now the pillow is a very nice, cushy thickness. Huge improvement.

03-09-2024By which I mean it's more or less all the same to me. If it's in a pillow where my head goes, I might suddenly become a connoisseur, but the foam shred in all my bed pillows came in the bed pillows. I didn't pick it separately (though they are adjustable bc you can add or remove some shred, which is LIFE CHANGING).So I'm a fan of the foam shred concept in general. It's a huge upgrade over the styro beans for bean bag chairs and the fiber fill stuff for throw pillows, both in comfort and annoyance factor. It's an animal-friendly alternative to down (and IMO more comfortable to boot). I wish I could find empty throw pillow inserts, like that white almost papery fiber stuff that goes easily into pillow covers that I could then fill with this stuff. I'm just using plain white ones meant for home painters/printers, and that works fine. In any event, I would NOT use this without a liner of some sort, just for ease of removal to wash whatever you're putting it in. I got this for a LARGE bean bag chair, and it's nowhere near full, but this is also one of the ones that has a back, not just a ball-shaped blob, so it takes more than a normal one. I'm also shooting blind here because the bean bag seller gave ZERO info as to cubic feet or pounds of fill or anything, so I'm just sort of cramming shred into the liner until it looks and feels right. Five pounds didn't do it. I might be caught shoving some old throw pillows in there to make up volume and see if the foam shred masks any lumpiness. Stay tuned.Anyway - I like foam shred. I use it and have used more than one brand, and haven't been mad at any of it. Yet. Somebody will annoy me eventually and at least then I'll have better info to write in the review.

03-09-2024The 5 lb bag was just enough to plump up a few pillows. The varied foam textures add a mix of firmness and softness without feeling like a straight foam-filled pillow.
